Welcome to Cuerden Parish Council
Cuerden covers some 800 acres about 4½ miles south east of Preston on the River Lostock on the road between Preston and Wigan. Cuerden Valley Park, south of the M6 and M65 junction, covers 650 acres, some of which is used for agriculture. The park has a lake and was once the estate of Cuerden Hall.
Cuerden Council employs a Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer who is responsible for all the administrative work associated with the day to day running of the Parish Council.
There are currently four additional local people who serve as Councillors on the Parish Council and give their time voluntarily. Elections to serve as a Parish Councillor are every four years, unless there is a resignation when a casual vacancy will be advertised on the website and on the Parish Council notice board (which is situated on Shady Lane at the Berkeley Drive entrance to Cuerden Valley Park).
Meetings are held 5 times a year (dates can be found on the meeting dates page) and are usually held at Clayton le Woods CE Primary School. All meetings are open to the public and there is a period of time put aside at the beginning of each meeting for a discussion where members of the public are able to express their views or ask questions. This website contains information about the area, Parish Council meetings, minutes, contact details and the most up to date agenda.
If you have any photos you would like to be included in the gallery pages, please contact the clerk.
